Outreach

Volunteer photographer for OIST's 2025 Science Festival. Photos viewable here.

During my PhD I was a founding member of The Brain Domain, a neuroscience outreach website. I was an editor, writer (my articles were cross posted to the NMHRI's blog), ran social media, secured collaborations and organised a GW4 funded workshop. We successfully passed the project onto a new team following graduation.

In 2018 for International Women's Day recorded an episode discussing my research and pathway through science - Piece of Mind: Mental Health & Psychiatry Podcast Minisode: Women in Science.

Throughout my time at the NMHRI I was a member of the engagement committee.

STEM ambassador volunteering at a range of science events aimed at ages 6 to 18.

Mentoring

Throughout my PhD and employment I have mentored a number of students and trained them in wet lab, animal behaviour and surgery techniques in my research groups. In addition I supervised undergraduate and high school anatomy and neuroscience laboratory practicals.

Outside of work I also took part in demonstrations and teaching within my karate organisation, both for my home club and during courses around the UK.
